When The Dream Ended
Rating (5)
Date: 2008-05-29

Isn't it written in the stars somewhere that all truly great romances must end in death? When I first saw this episode on television I was torn up by its power, but quite devastated, having realized that a series I still consider to be the best television has ever produced, was going to end. Catherine, and Vincent were a perfect whole, and one without the other, simply put, was like a body devoid of its soul. Though there would be several other powerful episodes in the abbreviated final season, they all had a dirge-like quality to them.

If there is one consolation here it may just be that the love between Vincent, and Catherine continues to endure, in all its poetic magnificence, and the sheer beauty, and rhapsodic poignancy of this love continues to enthrall, and inspire.

Good Show...

I watched the show faithfully as a child..Been a long time since I've seen this episode but you can never forget it. Broke my heart as a child.. I hope they publish this on dvd like they are doing for season 1 and 2...

I'm even praying and hoping they are in someway even start the series again or even a movie with a jump of todays timeline bringing back the old characters but for a 20 yr reunion.... Wishful dreams but that is what the show is all about..Dreams may come true...You never know...

I have read alot of the comments on this site - and yes i hold my hand up. What a beautiful series this is and was. I remember it back in the 80s. My dad was alive when it was running and he is no longer here. I was so touched by this programme and the music really touched my heart. Like many of you have said if you didnt get this programme well you really havent loved or felt true love. This programme really touched yr heart no matter how many times you watched it. The world was a nicer place when you could escape from the reality of the real world and imagine you were in the story lines yourself. I realised what having a heart really meant and how i think it made me a better person

All Good Things---[but this is not the end!]

All good things come to an end, usually through stupidity! I think that "Catherine" going off to make Terminator might have had something to do with it. Anyway, Missy-Missy in New York, this is one of my favorite shows ever, also. Yes there are more episodes, and I have them on tape. I also want them on DVD! I know you wrote nine months ago, but I just read your review. Hope all is well with your daughter, and, yes, this is one great movie, and series. But, like I said, those who think they know it all brought another good program to an abrupt end. Buy this one everyone, but this is not the end.

Please bring the TV show "Beauty & the Beast" to DVD

I too, don't understand why this series has never been released on DVD and was devastated when it was cancelled. This is the only TV show that I would ever even consider buying the tapes on, but that would be stupid, because they need to be on DVD. I am writing this to add my name to the list of customers begging for it to be offered on DVD, (if this would even help) and would ask to be notified when this happens. I am aware that this is probably not the most widely accepted show, but it is offered on VHS, so why not DVD...PLEASE?
