There are some fine songs on this, and yes, there is a thematic thread of being broken hearted in the lyrics, but the mix of material, artists, and styles just does not hold together -- ranging from hard R&B, to 60's Motown, to slickly produced 70's music that was the precursor to disco. If you are after soul music, most other compilations are better.
