I think "13 Haunting Ghost Tales" was a great book, very well written.
In the "Travelers" the fun house will give you eerie chills. "The Diamond" will have a very eerie affect on you, when the little girl's imaginary friends were people who died, and now the little girl can see their corpses. The "Bloody Hatchet" will scare you when Bobby finds out that an old tree is responsible for the kidnapping of Rachel. "Baby's Breath" will leave you with that sick feeling. "Hudson Super-Six" will give you the creeps. "Night Cries" will give you chills up and down your spine, when a mother of a 7 year old daughter is dying and she can't do anything to help her. "Ectoplasm" will chill you to the bone when a science teacher tries an experiment with his class and it seriously goes wrong. "Lycanthropy" will leave you with bone chilling horror. In "Puppy Love" you'll feel bad for the kid's sob story when he loses his grandma. "Dinner in the Witch's Attic" will give you an eerie sick and twisted feeling and "Winter Solstice" will leave you breathless. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good scary story.

This book has the spookiness of Stephen King - without the bad language! It was a frightful pleasure to read. Imaginative stories with twistful ends. Great for juveniles and adults. Must read if you like to be scared!

Just when you thought it was safe to go to bed with the lights out. Kirk has written a great book for a good scare. A welcomed fresh voice in the world of horror and suspence. Another good book I recommend is, Steward's--"Tales of Dirt, Danger, and Darkness."

"Fun" horror - not too bloody, but still shivers the spine.

Many of the tales are wonderfully escapist, the author remembers what it was like to be young. Most of the main characters are children or young adults, with only the best qualities of adults. My favorite story takes place in a County Fair, always a frightening place for me, I may never go to one again. The only thing I disliked is that the author is too fond of happy endings, and occasionally this brought a great story to an awkward end. It is light entertainment, frightening without being a gross-out fest, it delivers gooseflesh as opposed to gory details of the murder.
